Family & Child Sciences
Undergraduate ProgramThe Family and Child Sciences course of study provides understanding of family relationships and how they are influenced by the broader environment and change over the life span. Students learn how to apply this knowledge about children and families to working with them in various professional settings. Within this course of study students can address child growth and development, family relations, marital interaction, parent-child interaction, and their growth and their changes over time. All students get introduced to work in applied settings through participation in a practicum in human service agencies, educational settings, child care centers, and child and family advocacy institutes. Some students also complete a more extensive internship. We have approximately 400 undergraduate students in the major.
