Program Overview

The mission of the graduate Exercise Physiology Program at Florida State University is to conduct research, train students to generate and apply knowledge, and to provide public service in the areas of exercise and human performance. Today’s interest in healthy lifestyles is translating into a remarkable range of career opportunities related to diet, fitness, and health. Florida State University’s leading-edge programs in Exercise Sciences are preparing students to pursue a wide variety of health-related careers through a series of rigorous courses in each program that provides a firm foundation plus essential scientific and technical knowledge and practical skills. Targeted coursework allows students to learn the professional, technical, and interpersonal aspects of their career.

Requirements & Prerequisites:

Minimum Admission Standards

  • GPA of at least 3.0 or combined score of 1000 (verbal + quantitative) on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
  • International students must have a TOEFL score of at least 570 (paper-based), 230 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based)
  • For the Exercise Physiology program, students must have satisfactory grades of C or better in undergraduate anatomy and physiology laboratory courses

Attainment of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission decisions are based on assessments of all aspects of the student’s application materials. We reserve the right to increase standards if warranted by enrollment limitations and by the number and quality of applicants.
