Student Involvement/Activites

A distinguishing characteristic of TCS’ undergraduate program is passionate student involvement and professional polish:

  • The Center for Retail Merchandising and Product Development, known as The Retail Center, is one of a select few university centers that focus on retailing in the United States and is an important part of TCS. As TCS undergraduates, students have special contact with Center members via the annual fall Scholarship Dinner, the annual spring Retail Summit, information sessions, interview sessions, and participation in “Aspire2Retail” with the National Retail Federation.
  • Many students are highly involved with student organizations, including the Collegiate Merchandising Association (CMA), Fashion Inc., and/or the student chapter of the American Association of Textile Colorists and Chemists. CMA, for example, has approximately 250 student members and publishes its own fashion magazine, Clutch, every semester.
  • For over 35 years, TCS has required an internship of its majors so that students have critical industry exposure. Students in Retail Merchandising and Product Development have sought and gained intern placement in New York, LA, Dallas, Atlanta, and cities inside and outside Florida, as well as in Europe. Over 200 companies have partnered with TCS in our Internship Program.
  • The summer Study Abroad program is a highly popular option for many TCS students. Students can earn 6-9 hours of course credit while visiting Milan, Paris, and London. The International Program at FSU also works with students to set up International Internships in London.
